Funeral Director, Lori Kober has worked at Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home in Vermillion, SD for the past 11 1/2 years and has made this community her home. She also worked at Anderson-Siecke Funeral Home in Elk Point for the past five and half years.

She is originally from the state of Wisconsin where she grew up with her family on a dairy farm in Elkhart Lake. She began her education at the early age of three at St. John's School for the Deaf and graduated from the Wisconsin School for the Deaf in 1985. She then attended Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. and obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1990. Lori's love and passion in the field of mortuary science inspired her to further her education and career by attending the University of District of Columbia where she successfully acquired an Associates of Applied Science Degree and graduated 3rd in her class in 1994. While studying at the University of District of Columbia, she was also employed full-time at Rapp Funeral Services in Silver Spring, MD and completed her apprenticeship there, which provided her with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the funeral business.

Lori's life was off to a great start, both professionally and personally. She married her childhood sweetheart, Thomas, in 1989 and in 1995 followed her husband's career to Sioux Falls, SD. In 1996 they moved to their current residence in Vermillion, SD.

Lori's unique skills, abilities, and love for people have truly helped her to excel in this most rewarding, yet challenging profession. She takes care of family's loved ones with great pride and dignity.

Lori and Thomas are members of St. Agnes Catholic Church, and an avid PACKER fans. She also is a member of National Funeral Director Association and South Dakota Funeral Director Association.

After many years of hard work and anticipation, it is with great pride that Lori announces the starting of her new business "Kober's Funeral Home"

Erin Feldman
Intern/Licensed Pre-Need Counselor

/media/koberfuneralhome/ErinFeldman.pngErin is a new intern at the funeral home. She is originally from Renville, Minnesota and graduated high school in 2004. She then went on to college at the University of South Dakota here in Vermillion. After graduating with a degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology in 2008, she moved back to Minnesota to attend the Mortuary Science program at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis - graduating in December 2009.

While going to school at the University of Minnesota, Erin both worked and lived at a funeral home. After graduating, she continued to work and live there while seeking and inquiring about internships. In May of 2010, she interviewed with Lori and Tom Kober, and in June she was told she had been given the opportunity to work at Kober Funeral Home.

Although she doesn't have a personal background in funeral service, Erin was intrigued and interested in the science of funeral service and the role of the funeral director in the community. She believes that funeral directors have the unique opportunity to give back to the community and help others. Erin is passionate about learning and she believes that working at Kober Funeral Home will give her a unique experience and outlook on the field of funeral service.

For hobbies, Erin enjoys being active outdoors, biking and swimming, reading voraciously, spending time with family and friends, and having a good time in general.

Lynn Lawrensen
Memorial Tribute Consultant

/media/koberfuneralhome/Lynn.jpgLynn Lawrensen is a fourth generation resident of Clay County, and owner of Cherished Memories, Life Stories on DVD. She delights in creating Memorial Tributes that honors those who have passed on. Her DVD creations are completely customized and she takes pride in the fact that no two of her Tributes are alike, because no two lives are alike.

She has discovered an unexpected, but wonderful, side benefit in her business – the opportunity to get to know her clients and hopefully help to comfort them in their grief.  Looking at photographs and reliving special moments can be a healing time for many people, and Lynn is grateful to be a small part of that process.

Lynn is a happy mom to seven children, ranging in age from 29 to 15, and an adoring grandma to a darling baby girl. She is an active member of Hillside Community Church in Vermillion and finds great joy in participating in the Vermillion Community Theatre. In her spare time, she enjoys singing along with all kinds of music (usually off tune) and spending as much time as possible laughing with her kids.
