James (Jim) Edward Card, 72, of Elk Point, SD, passed away Monday, July 5, 2010 from cancer peacefully at his home with his family at his side.

Jim was born October 7, 1937, in Sioux City, IA to Cecil & Irene (Weaver) Card. He was the younger of two children. He graduated from Elk Point High School in 1956. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk Point.

He married Alice Miller on December 30, 1978 in Sioux City, IA. The marriage was blessed with two children. Jim worked hard farming his whole life until he retired in 2002.

Even after retiring, Jim enjoyed working hard on his extensive garden every year. Jim was always ready to lend a helping hand, especially helping dig out his neighbors when it snowed. He loved to play cards and was known by his friends to be a big kidder. He also was a skilled carpenter and loved making gifts for his friends and family.

Survivors include his wife, Alice of Elk Point; his daughter, Emily Bohling and her husband, JD, of Blue Grass, IA, his son, Tim Card and his fiancee, Amy Bruning of Elk Point; his granddaughter, Faith Bohling of Blue Grass IA; his niece, Susan Robinson of Leesburg, VA
