Madonna L. (Kayl) Blomberg, 91, of Elk Point passed away Monday, February 15, 2010 at a Sioux City hospital.
Madonna was born April 8, 1918 in Jefferson, SD to Edmund and Luella (Limoges) Chicoine. She grew up in the Jefferson/Elk Point area. She graduated from Elk Point High School. She married Herbert Kayl on Oct. 20, 1938. He passed away on Dec. 12, 1967. She married Bill Blomberg in 1970. He died in 1977.
She worked at IBP for 10 years, and also worked at JC Penny in the alterations department. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a member of the Altar Society, the Eagles Club in Sioux City and South Sioux City. She belonged to Senior Center in Elk Point and Jefferson. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and embroidery & quilting, playing cards, gardening and flowers.
Survivors include her sons, Jerry (Sharon) Kayl of Fallbrook, CA, Carl (Libby) Kayl of Santa Ana, CA, and Denny (Joyce) Kayl of Burbank, SD; her daughters, Mary (Larry) Riemenschneider of Lawton, IA, Norma (Gary) Johnson of Crescent City, CA, and Peggy Brewer of Florence, KY; and a daughter-in-law, Wanda Kayl of Grand Island, NE; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert Kayl and Bill Blomberg; her son, Marty Kayl; and a son-in-law, Wes Brewer.
