Name: Charles Merle Bingen Dates: Birth date: June 02, 1947 Death date: February 01, 2010 Obituary: Charles M. Bingen, 62, of Burbank, SD, passed away Monday, February 1, 2010 at Sanford Vermillion Hospital after a long battle with pain resulting from a work-related accident in July 2008. Charles was born on June 2, 1947, the son of Charles H. and Evelyn (Bartholow)Bingen in Presho, SD. He was one of the five children. Charles graduated from Presho High School in 1965 and continued his education at the University of South Dakota from 1994 - 1998. He married Jan Larsen in 1971 in Vermillion, SD where they made their home. Charles spent most of his life working in the construction business as a heavy equipment operator. His greatest job in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed classic cars, hunting, and auctions. Charles is survived by his wife, Jan of Burbank; his five sons, Charles (Kate), Christopher "Kip" (Deana), Michael, and Erik (Amanda Granaas) all of Vermillion; and Chad of Casper, WY; 14 grandchildren; his sister, Gail Byre of Mason, City, IA, and his two brothers, Kent of Rapid City, and Joel (Kim) of Lead, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Randy Bingen, and his brother-in-law, Dale Byre. Visitation: Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2010 with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m., at Iverson-Siecke-Kober Funeral Home, Vermillion with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Service: Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Ed Anderson officiating. The reception will follow at the church after the committal service. Cemetery: Burial will be in Bluff View Cemetery, Vermillion, SD. |
