Obituary:

Ernest (Puck) Rozell, Jr. 85, of Elk Point, SD  died Wednesday, January 27th in Sioux City, Iowa. 

He was born to Ernest E. Sr. and Mary Bologna Rozell on the Rozell homestead in Civil Bend Township on July 6, 1924.

He graduated from Elk Point High School and served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.

He married Florence (Flossie) Soulek on June 10, 1946 in Dakota County, Nebraska.  She died January 19, 1997.

Puck was a local auctioneer and real estate broker for many years, turning to farming in the early 1970's.  He was an early adopter of the center pivot irrigation system.  He was an avid Notre Dame football fan and loved playing pool with his friends.  Puck was known for his signature Stetson hat.

He married Roberta Stone on January 3, 1999 in Elk Point, SD.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk Point.

Survivors include his wife Roberta of Elk Point; two sons and their wives, Mike & Joanne of Elk Point and Matt & Jane of Lakeville, MN;  two step-daughters and their husbands, Kathleen & Jim Verschoor of Sioux City, IA and Teresa & Keith Bradley of Gretna, NE; eight grandchildren: Adam, Nina, Sarah & Erika Rozell, Joseph and Natalie Verschoor and Savanna & Ava Bradley; and one sister, Jeannette Goodwin of Oceanside, CA.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Florence; a brother, Joe Tuttle; two sisters, LaRena Stamer and Dorothy Crowder; his parents and his lifelong friend, Stan Chicoine.


Visitation:

A Rosary Service will be held at 4:30 pm on January 29, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk Point.  Visitation will resume from 5 - 7 pm, with a wake service at 7 pm.



Service:

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. John Rasmussen officiating.



Cemetery:

Burial will follow in Elk Point Cemetery with a military graveside service by the Elk Point American Legion.
